Nnamaka Samson Ebukam (pronounced: “ Nnn-Nam-a_ka sam-son eh-Boo-kahm” was born in Onitsha, Nigeria in 1995. The youngest of seven children, Samson arrived in America (Oregon) at the age of nine. The only sport Samson played in Nigeria was soccer, but eventually found himself playing football at David Douglas High School in Portland, Oregon, which led to a scholarship to Eastern Washington University. After four years of honors and accolades during his collegiate career, Samson was drafted in the 4th round (125th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams.

In his rookie season (2017), Samson played in 16 games with two starts. In 2018, he played in 16 games with 14 starts and finished the season with 39 tackles, three sacks. Samson was the first NFL player since 1982 to record one sack, one fumble recovery (which Samson ran back for one defensive touchdown), and an interception (which he ran back for his second defensive touchdown) in a single game (v. Kansas City 11/19/18). In 2021, Samson signed a two-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers and continues to be an elite pass rusher in the NFL.
